"Blood is Thicker" - Season 02, Episode 03

- by Karen Haviley

Portwenn's certainly an interesting place. For the third time, the Doc meets face-to-face with his airbag thanks to a couch in the middle of the road on his way home. Thankfully, Bert just happens to be 'in the area' and claims it for his own. With a trailer on the back of his van, he's always prepared for moments like these.

This isn't Bert's problem in this episode, though, because Al begins to question his paternity when Bert can't seem to locate Al's birth certificate...and it hits him that he actually doesn't look like Bert at all. Thankfully they have the rational-minded Auntie Joan to set things right.

Al and Pauline get closer in this episode, too... on the Doc's kitchen table. Hey, where are you going to find a private place in Portwenn to snog with your guy/gal, right?

PC Mylow's sister, Sandra, makes a visit to Portwenn bringing her own medical kit -- herbal remedies. Of course the Portwennians can't wait to have a chat with her to see if she can fix what ails them so they don't have to see the Doc. You KNOW how they love newbies in town. They're a curious lot! Well, all but Mrs. Tishell who will never ever turn her back on the dear Doc.

But then it just gets better when one of the Flint boys from 'The Moor' (cue 'Deliverance' theme) comes to see the Doc about his medical issue -- The Lurkey strikes again! When he asks for help for his brother, too, the Doc decides he will have to drive out to examine him... and so he does (cue 'Psycho' theme)...

And for all the good things the Doc has done for the Flint family he gets a one-of-a-kind gift which reminds him to be careful what you wish for....

Blood is Thicker, folks.... it's a doozy.... Enjoy!
