"In Loco" - Season 02, Episode 02

- by Karen Haviley

In this episode we find Louisa prepping for an interview to be headmistress of the school. Kind of a big deal, right? The only problem is that the Doc is on the Board to decide who is most appropriate for the position and Louisa has been neglecting his requests to keep some local children -- who have contracted a nasty contagious rash -- out of the school. Yeah, this goes over well.

Bert comes to the rescue when Mrs. Cronk gets distracted in her fish & chips shop and dunks her hand in the vat of hot cooking oil. We find out that Bert received a cooking certificate years ago (he's full of surprises, isn't he?!) -- so of course he feels perfectly qualified to keep her shop running as she's rushed to the hospital. You can see where this is going. Let's just say that Bert believes in the 3-second rule...

Then of course Louisa and the Doc have shared custody of Peter Cronk while his mum is at the hospital. Sigh. Poor Peter.

In the end, we find out the cause of the rash being passed amongst the school children... but not before the Doc gets seriously 'schooled' by Louisa -- all in front of the Board -- about her methods for keeping the contagious children safe in the classroom.

Lots of action, some pretty disgusting rashes, more shushing and Shut Up's, and Bert's delectable culinary skills. A perfect mix.

Ahhh, yes... we're definitely In Loco... enjoy the show...

  2. I enjoy the way Peter Cronk gets ping ponged back and forth between Louisa and Martin. It also forshadows the rug rat (curtain climber?) that is in their future.
