I heard that the girl who plays Melanie in this episode is really Martin Clunes daughter, Emily. Have you heard this? Although her role makes this a little "creepy" considering, her acting is superb.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately that is not true. Emily Clunes at that time was about 5 years old. However the Dog that Melanie brings to the Doc's surgery name Mary really is or was Martin and Phillipa's cocker spaniel Mary Clunes. Unfortunately a listener to our show from the UK said that Mary was in an accident at the Clune's property and is no longer with us. Martin I'm sure was devastated as anyone would be.
Emily Clunes was in a few episodes in season 4 and 5.
Season 4 she was in "midwife crises" and season 5 she was in the last episode "ever after".
